Can We Outsmart Alzheimer’s? Rachel Daugherty Says Yes.
Her mother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis changed everything. Now she’s on a mission to change the way we age.
Hello Warriors!
This week’s Suburban Warrior Podcast conversation with Rachel Daugherty is one you won’t forget—literally. Rachel is the daughter of a woman who battled Alzheimer’s, and she knows the emotional toll of caretaking all too well. But instead of succumbing to fear, she made a radical choice: to reframe her own health journey through the lens of brain health.
Her story is raw, relatable, and deeply inspiring. Imagine juggling young kids, an ailing parent, and your own body beginning to shift in midlife—all while wondering if you’re next in line for the same diagnosis. That was Rachel’s reality. But one afternoon on the porch, watching her kids play, she had an epiphany: What if I’m creating this future without even knowing it? That moment sparked years of research and a mission to help other women see that they’re not doomed by genetics.
Today, as a brain health educator, coach, and Alzheimer’s prevention advocate, Rachel teaches evidence-based strategies that empower women to reduce their risk of cognitive decline. Through her platform Booty & Brains, she leads courses like From Stuck to Strong: Metabolic Rebuild for Brain & Body, blending nutrition, fitness, and habit change into approachable programs. Her approach is practical, hopeful, and deeply personal. She reminds us that our daily choices aren’t about chasing smaller jeans but about building stronger brains—and that’s a message every suburban warrior needs to hear.

WeightWatchers in Menopause Mode: Bold Move or Bandwagon Play?
A few weeks ago, I shared the news about WeightWatchers’ big rebrand and their splashy new menopause campaign fronted by Queen Latifah. The campaign leans into humor and relatability with the tagline: “Is it hot in here? Nah, girl, it’s just the menopause.” That line has already gone viral, with some fans calling it Latifah’s “most relatable ad yet” (Tinseltown Tales).
Since then, the campaign has sparked both praise and criticism. On the positive side, outlets like NewBeauty highlight how the program goes beyond diets to include nutrition, community, and menopause-trained clinicians—offering a more holistic take than WeightWatchers’ past weight-loss focus. Others, like The Wall Street Journal, note that critics are wary of the steamy, provocative tone of the ads and worry that weight loss and medications may overshadow the real breadth of menopause symptom care.
So, what do you think? Is WeightWatchers’ move into menopause care just a cheap attempt to jump on the bandwagon as this movement gains traction? Or is it actually a brilliant, authentic repositioning for a company climbing out of bankruptcy and looking to serve an underserved need?
Take the poll below!
